The Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center (TBCAC) is a regional response center for the protection and wellbeing of children. We are a community-based, child-focused, and child-friendly facility in which representatives from many disciplines, including law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, mental health, health care and victim advocacy, work together to investigate abuse, help children heal from abuse, and hold offenders accountable.
Our clinical counseling program serves child victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse and witness to violence as well as non-offending caregivers and siblings. Referrals are made through law enforcement and child protection agencies. A licensed psychologist with certification in trauma-informed therapeutic interventions directs the program, along with master’s level staff. All services are provided free of charge.
We have formal agreements with 45 multi-disciplinary partners to serve Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau and Wexford Counties, and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians.
TBCAC also benefits regional communities with such services as professional training, agency consultation, and community education and awareness on child maltreatment. We are available to provide trainings on trauma-informed systems of care and child sexual abuse prevention.
