The Michigan Health Council (MHC) is a solutions-oriented non-profit organization dedicated to developing a premier health care workforce in every Michigan community. MHC’s mission is to build health professional capacity by offering innovative products and services across six focus areas:
- Primary care
- Workforce capacity
- Interprofessional education and collaborative practice
- Social determinants of health
- Clinical education
- K-12 pipeline
MHC has a seven-decade track record of working collaboratively with health care leaders, professionals, employers, educators, and students to address challenges spanning the education to practice continuum.
MHC launched Education to Practice in 2012 as one way to apply interprofessional competencies in community and clinical settings where multiple health professionals from different backgrounds work together with patients, families, and caregivers to deliver the highest quality of care. In three different pilots conducted in Grand Rapids, Detroit, and Flint, organizational readiness dictated much of the health care team’s ability to impact patient outcomes. MHC’s Education to Practice toolkit helps organizations prepare for the transition to interprofessional team-based care.
Located near Lansing, the Michigan Health Council is known for its health workforce expertise built over 72 years as well as its extensive relationship networks. The vision of MHC is to create a culture of health with health professionals at the heart of the delivery system. To learn more about the Michigan Health Council, visit www.mhc.org.
